Zither Instruction

She has also taught beginning music using small wire strung zithers to seniors who have never read music. The instruments come and go with her so they are tuned and maintained and no practice is necessary. The idea is to provide a group sharing of well known tunes from classical, to folk, to jazz and standards with well known children’s tunes included. Along the way rhythm is learned and basics of music notation but since the music notes are directly under the strings with lines going from first note to next and so on,  students can play together in ensemble and even eventually play harmonies and melodies as an ensemble. She has led classes at The San Leandro Senior Center, The Castro Valley Senior Center, and several private senior communities.
